The
distinctive character of this congregation is reflected in its progressive nature. While any mission statement is a part of an ongoing process, it is expected that Arvada United Methodist Church will retain its image as a
community where thinking people will be encouraged to pursue their journey in an atmosphere that is wholly supportive of their quest.
We have a strong commitment to our United Methodist Connectional ministries, and we
also see ourselves as a part of an ecumenical coalition. We maintain strong ties with our brothers and sisters of all faith traditions.
We continually nurture the understanding that there are no islands of isolation. We
hold as our mission to understand, welcome, and honor all people regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, sexual orientation, mental and physical ability, creed, age, or economic status. Any statement of mission is
incomplete and misguided unless it affirms "we are one". We will continue to issue the invitation for all to attend, and encourage acceptance of people; recognizing it is the role of the church to help us confront and to examine our individual intolerances.
Worship is central to what we are striving to do, and it maintains an attitude of meditation which is conveyed in an atmosphere of vitality and congeniality.
