MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the AUMC FOUNDATION is to:
- PROVIDE for the long-term growth of the mission of AUMC
- ENCOURAGE congregants to have wills and to include the AUMC FOUNDATION in their wills and in other forms of giving
- RESPOND to the future needs of the AUMC community and its ministries
- ENSURE the perpetuation of God's work by our church community.
DIFFERENCES
It is important to understand the differences between SPECIAL GIFTS, ANNUAL GIVING, and the AUMC FOUNDATION. "Special Gifts" are often designated for specific items and given as memorials. Annual Giving meets the demands of the annual budgets. The AUMC FOUNDATIION is developed for long-term growth and perpetuation of God's work through generations to come.
WEBSTER'S DEFINITION
Webster defines ‘endowment" as "the act or process of furnishing with an income". In the early years, the Church was always on the frontier in our nation striving for its place in the future. Certainly the frontiers of today call for us to be committed to the Church that "will be preserved to the end of time...." If the Church is to remain on the frontier, it must plan for future as well as present mission and ministry; unless these plans include MEANS of funding, they may be only empty dreams. The concept of endowment funding says to the church and to the community that the Arvada United Methodist Church is HERE TO STAY...and is both planning and funding for the future. The AUMC FOUNDATION was formed in 2005.
AN ENDOWMENT FUND SAYS:
We believe in the future of this church. We want to be guided by the belief that all we have is a gift in trust from God. We want to build a sense of permanence in what we do today.
CREATIVE GIFT PLANNING
There are many ways to give to the Foundation with varying levels of sophistication in their completion:
- Outright gifts of cash or other assets
- Bequest in Wills and Trusts
- Beneficiary designations in life insurance policies and retirement plans
- Gifts of real estate in which the giver retains a lifetime interest.
GIVING TO THE FOUNDATION:
- Prepares our church building for the future by assisting it with its capital needs.
- Prepares our church programmatically for the future by being used to form and fund new ministries as times change and new needs arise in the community.
- Helps protect against hard times and disasters by being used to meet the financial needs at such times.
- Increases our church's financial standing and credit-worthiness so that future expansions can be made in response to expanding community ministries.
WHY GIVE?
We heard the following words when we were confirmed as members of the Church. "Dearly beloved, the Church is of God, and will be preserved to the end of time........". We have heard them again and again as countless others have taken this important step in faith. Let us take these words to heart and ensure that the future of our church is solid and ongoing.
All gifts are subject to the approval of the Foundation Board.
