AUMC Outreach
As a church, we believe that we need to be in the world working at addressing emergency situations and the needs of people but also work on rectifying the underlying causes for different problems which exist. UMC supports numerous local, national, and global agencies and efforts through regular donations, special offerings and volunteer work. We are involved in various efforts to help people with emergency relief, food, and housing. We provide space for many different community organizations in our work to help our community and our constituents make Arvada a better place to live and thrive. We are especially proud of our English as a Second Language Program which has helped hundreds of people from around the world learn English and become citizens. In addition to the aforementioned projects, we hold an Alternative Gift Market annually which supports over 35 different local, national and global mission projects.

Who's visited our site, worldwide:

AUMC supports many different local charities in the Arvada and Denver Metro areas by collecting non-perishable food for three food banks, participating in Habitat for Humanity building projects, cooking and serving meals to homeless teens at Urban peak, providing food, cooking and serving breakfast to homeless folks at St. Paul’s UMC, providing a free Neighborhood Meal monthly on the second Wednesday in our Center, collecting and distributing food to over 30 families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and supporting other groups with funds.  AUMC is also a congregational member of the Colorado Council of Churches and Reconciling Ministries. Interchurch ARMS, which provides Emergency Assistance to people in the Arvada area is provided office space in our building.

AUMC for the past several years has planned and carried out Intergenerational Mission Trips to different parts of the country, including Dulac, Louisiana; Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Blackfoot Reservation in Montana. In 2012, we traveled to Washington DC and worked with the Quaker House on various issues.

With an eye to the wider world, AUMC has supported efforts by the United Methodist Church through the United Methodist Committee on Relief, and have held events to provide nets to stop the spread of malaria in Africa through our Nothing But Nets fund raisers. We support a United Methodist Board of Global Ministries Missionary, Nan McCurdy, doing mission work with single women and teenagers in Nicaragua. Also, we’ve assisted in providing fresh water to people in Kenya, and helped build and maintain over twenty schools in Madagascar through our support of Peace Corp volunteers. Each year we hold an Alternative Gifts market in December which provides financial support to over 30 different organizations around the world helping people in need.

Welcome to Arvada United Methodist Church.
Our mission is to provide a place where we all can practice a thoughtful, vital faith offering hope for each other, the church, and the world.  Here we worship, learn, serve and grow toward wholeness with open minds and open hearts.
